$2.5 Million for New Mental Health Program

Starting this fall, mental health and behavioral health resources will be made easily accessible to students throughout Madera County. Madera County Superintendent of Schools (MCSS) has been awarded a $2.5 million grant from the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission. Partnering with the Camarena Health Centers, Madera County Department of Behavioral Health, and local school superintendents, MCSS has established the Madera County Youth Behavioral Health Collaborative seeking to increase access to mental health and behavioral health services in the school, home, and community.

FUNDING FOR FCSS CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Leading the way in Fresno County, the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools opened an innovative, new Career Technical Education Center in downtown Fresno. Students will have access to industry-standard equipment in commercial construction and manufacturing. Costs for this unique charter school were offset through Career Technical Education Facility Program grants offered through the California Department of Education.

$4 MILLION FOR LAUSD TOBACCO LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM

Beyond the Bell educators in Los Angeles Unified have launched a two-year campaign to combat the increasing problem of “vaping” among teens, supported with a $4-million-dollar grant from the California Department of Justice.
